Public Holiday : After the long Dussehra–Diwali break, schools, colleges, and offices have reopened. Now people are waiting for the next holiday — and it’s coming soon. Yes, on 24 November 2025, the entire nation will observe Guru Tegh Bahadur Shaheedi Diwas with devotion and respect. On this occasion, several states have announced a public holiday.
The governments of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Uttarakhand have issued notifications declaring a holiday on this day. Schools, banks, and government offices will remain closed. Special religious programs will also be organized in gurdwaras. In Uttar Pradesh, all government and private schools, colleges, and educational institutions will remain closed.
Two Days of Public Holidays
On Shaheedi Diwas, educational institutions will not hold any classes or activities. Since the holiday falls on a Monday, students will get a two-day break, including Sunday
- 23 November (Sunday) – Weekly Off
- 24 November (Monday) – Public Holiday
Government ministries, departments, courts, corporation offices, and local bodies will also remain closed on 24 November.
Banks Will Also Remain Closed
The RBI Holiday Calendar 2025 also mentions this holiday. According to it, banks will remain closed on 24 November in many states including Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir.
Customers will not be able to access services such as cash transactions, cheque clearance, and most offline banking services.
People are advised to complete their essential banking tasks by 22 November.
However, online banking services and ATMs will continue to function, and normal banking operations will resume on 25 November.
